Ascent Private Capital Management’s Elegant Minneapolis Offices

- The Minneapolis offices were designed with a high flexibility and transparency environment to help in performing all interactions that occur between users ( client and team interaction).

- For this reason, the space contain some open/ glass walled meeting rooms beside bringing a sufficient amount of natural lighting and brightness.. 

- Supportive functions, such as storage and staging, are available as well.


- Multi-Functional area : to be transformed as needed (private dining,  presentation, evening events .. etc.)
- Art pieces collection for new local artists.

Adam’s restaurant ~

contemporary fine dining restaurant, serving up a sophisticated blend of familiar flavour combinations with modern, inventive twists.
 

 This is a fine dining restaurant had to be completed within a restricted budget and short timescale. The design team were happy to take the a challenge.


A large Gothic corridor to adds a sense of  magnificence
Cornicing and panelled walls with antique mirrors and faux marble inserts add to the traditional feeling.


- Seating is in a  traditional in style but given a contemporary look.
- Tables are a dark wood veneer and flooring a neutral silvered oak vinyl.

Smart clear-frosting Glass




A high-tech glass that you could change from transparent to frosted with the flick of a switch…




 uses: 
1. home windows (eliminating the need for blinds),
2. Stores fronts (at night), 
3. bathrooms .


How does it work?





Liquid Crystals Displays:
Is a technique that can be found in many of the products that are used nowadays like in calculators, digital clocks and watches, microwave ovens all use liquid crystal displays (LCDs). In these displays, electricity is used to change the shape of the liquid crystals to allow light to pass through, thus forming figures and numbers on the display.


Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals:

The technology behind an LCD is similar to the polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs) used in some smart-window applications. In these windows, the liquid crystals respond to an electrical charge by aligning parallel and letting light through. When the electrical charge is absent, the liquid crystals in the window are randomly oriented. With liquid crystals, the glass is either clear or translucent. There are no intermediate settings.


PDLCs and suspended particle devices require power for their smart windows to be transparent. A different smart window technology is in development that would reverse the process.

Deck House by Assadi & Pulido, Chile



The client wanted a deck of wood. where it would be possible to  incorporate in different areas of the house. However, this terrace lead to interior space that was enough only for a large living area connected to it.



So the architect have created:
 - Kind of folding  deck that match the slope of the site
- Outside area is worked as a free zone that rests over the relief 
- The interior as a capsule of glass incorporated to the folding of this wood board.



"The board of wood this deck generates runs along all the house, from the lowest part, - where a swimming pool has been added - to the upper cover, turning into the roof, showing since the first glimpse to the house, the use of wood everywhere."

Structure: 
1.The pool hall has an open, light filled environment formed by a folded timber semi – monocoque structure across the west wall and roof.
2. clerestory glazing and the full height glazing at the end of the pool hall will have fully controllable external louvres.
